I am pleased to announce that the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is in the process of implementing some much needed traffic equipment at the intersection of Birdie Road. We have had a few fatalities on this road and so I am thankful that the GDOT is taking action to prevent more from occurring.
According to the GDOT, signal crews are installing warning flashers approaching the signal. They expect this project to be completed by the end of February. In addition to warning flashers, the GDOT has hired a contractor upgrading the existing traffic signal with all new equipment. The project is expected to start at the beginning of this month, and they anticipate it being completed by mid-spring.
The safety of our citizens is one of my top concerns and it is my hope that these changes being implemented by the GDOT will dramatically reduce, or even possibly eliminate, the number of accidents on Birdie Rd.
