  • Karen has served her community as chairperson of the Spalding County Republican Party for 12 years
  • Chair of the county Zoning Board

  • Member of Griffin Rotary
  • Karen was elected in 2016 to represent Georgia District 73 in the Georgia House of Representatives.


She is the first doctor of chiropractic in Georgia to serve in the General Assembly.  In 2021 she was named chairwoman of State Planning and Community Affairs.  Rep. Mathiak, her husband Marty and their Jack Russell terriers' Reagan & Timber reside in Spalding County. Their son, Michael now lives in New York. 


Rep. Mathiak represents Spalding County, Woolsey in Fayette County as well as Hampton in Henry County. She attends Rock Springs Church in Milner and enjoys UGA football.
